Below is our Q&A with Cyrille Rentier, a User Experience Designer at one of Holland's biggest design firms, Mirabeau. Cyrille most recently used Verify to test some Facebook page redesigns for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
What do you do?
Ia''m a User Experience Designer at one of the largest Dutch full service internet agencies: Mirabeau. My main focus lies on a''User Involvementa''. Within User Involvement we try to actively involve the end user in the UX design process using various methods as user interviews, focus groups, card sorting, paper prototyping, concept tests and usability tests.
What's the value you see in Verify?
The strength of an online user test lies in its convenience; it takes up only little of your time and the costs are relatively low. All this turns it into a likable tool in addition to the ordinary concept-, user- or usability tests. Verify is an excellent application if youa''re looking for a fast and easy way to involve your end user in the design. The possibility of performing various tests through one application is its biggest asset for me.
How does Verify help you do what you do?
It differs every time. Sometimes I use it for an extensive user test. Other times I only use it to quick-test some designs or drafts.
The most recent test I did, turned out to be a memorable one. We, at Mirabeau, had developed two Facebook-concepts for airline KLM, one of our clients.
At the beginning of this project we held two focus group sessions with 12 respondents. After further desk research and concept development we came up with two concepts which we propounded, through Verify, to our target group. This group consisted of the KLM Facebook-fans (at moment of writing: 163,512) whom we all invited on the KLM Facebook page to participate in the test, via this message:
"Great ideas come from great Facebook minds, that is our opinion. ;-) What do YOU think about our Facebook page? If you have some spare time, please fill in our Concept test at https://bit.ly/eF7Szn. You can participate until Monday 21 March 12:00 C.E.T."
I didna''t have any clue how many responses to expect. Basically I would have been very pleased if wea''d reached 40. That same afternoon we already received those 40 and the final result came down to 151 completed tests! This test really showed how nice and easy an application like Verify is. The test takers really liked it according to the comments in the test and on the KLM Facebook page. The KLM test also showed that through this online test application you can reach larger groups of participants.
