In case you hadn't heard, the long-rumored iPad mini that's half the size of the iPad was finally announced. And there's already chatter for what the new size means for designers. One thing's for certain, we can no longer count on one set screen size for Apple tablets as we have in the past.
But we already knew that we can't expect a set screen size for anything we design. After all, there are dozens upon dozens of screen sizes for other tablets and phones. Which is why we're constantly working to improve Foundation, our responsive framework that allows you to design for any device. In fact, the Yeti has been hard at work this week putting the finishing touches on Foundation 3.2.
We're T-minus 2 days from Foundation 3.2's release this Friday. We've given a sneak peek before, but here's a rundown again of what you can expect:
- Clearing, a Foundation 3.2 plugin, that builds on the modal experience of our plugin Reveal and our image slider Orbit
- New, more abstract JS implementation
- Easier to include/omit plugins
- Responsive Joyride
- Scrollmap
There's going to be much more, but if you really want to get a sneak peek of Foundation 3.2 and you're in the Bay Area, come join us for our third Foundation meetup tomorrow at 6 PM, here at ZURB HQ. Pascal Finette, of Mozilla, will be our guest. He'll talk about how he's evangelized Foundation within the company so they can create responsive sites for WebFWD.
