Below: Q&A with Jon Bloomer a web developer from Sydney, Australia who develops cross-browser, cross-platform, experiences.
What do you do?
I am a freelance web developer, I have been a web developer for about 11 years, working for various Digital Agencies for the last 9 years in my new home Sydney Australia. I am a front end and backend developer so I specialize in html/css/javascript and php/mysql.
How does Notable help you do what you do?
99% of my work comes from working with Digital Agencies who take care of all the design components of the project. Using Notable has allowed me to work off-site and yet maintain a close relationship with the designers by allowing them to markup their photoshop files with bugs and errors. This allow us to form a conversation about the issue on screen in exactly the spot on the page where the issue is, clever stuff.
How do you use Notable with your team?
Well, as a one man band I have to be fully responsible and accountable for all code. That being said there are always going to be some bugs and alignment issues that slip through the cracks, so Notable allows me to keep track visually of where there are problems from various points of contact in the project team. I basically use it as a bug tracker! The commenting feature is what makes the software so useful. Every time an issue is raised I receive an email that links to the page with the listed points I need to address, and as I fix each bug I simply reply with a comment to the point in question, simple.
How has you daily workflow changed?
Notable has made it much easier to keep on top of the project by allowing me to see all current issues in one place, showing me which issues are new and by sending me email alerts. It ensures that I am on the same page with the designers without having to revert to calling or Skyping them every 5 minutes, which increases my productivity.
