A few things that we can't get enough of this week that are making the web a more neat place to work and play:
Behind-the-Scenes of Layer Tennis
Bravo Chris Glass, this was inspired. If you haven't heard of Coudal's 'Layer Tennis' (formerly 'Photoshop Tennis'), it's a weekly head-to-head battle between designers trading layered design files back-and-forth in a game of one-upmanship. The fun is in watching the rapid fire creative sparring between guys like Naz Hamid v. Chris. In Chris' case the cleverness of his photographic volleys is outdone by the details and insights he offers into his process for getting them done. Find out how he staged, shot, captured and digitally edited each shot in under 15 minutes.
The Superest
Here's another game of design one-upmanship that's silly good fun. The medium is illustration and the goal is outdoing your opponents last superhero with the perfect hilarious bizarro world anti-hero in response. This is the brainchild and handiwork of Kevin Cornell and Matthew Sutter. Don't miss Obstacle Force who defeated Blind Neddie or Brocco-Lee who bested 6 Year-Old Girl. One tip: read from the bottom up on their homepage for maximum fun.
COLOURlovers
We've discovered COLOURlovers.com and are having a blast mixing it up in their design community as LuckyOliver. The site feels like a giant database of color palettes sometimes, so we're trying to share some really great ones and spark as much thoughtful design commentary as possible. Check out FantasticHospitality (featuring colors like hospital electricity, plum shadow, and hot flesh), Frog Soup or Going Home Morocco (#92 with a bullet) for starters and let's see how it goes. (And yes, the naming is a big part of the fun.)
