In the great words of Mr. Sammy Jackson, "Hold on to your butts!" ZURB has just released Clue, our newest app that helps people design for people.
What is Clue?
Clue is a fun and easy way to test what people remember about your website. You give Clue the URL of the webpage you want to test, share your Clue memory test with anyone you want, then watch as the glorious results of what people remember pour in.
Memory tests can help identify what the most impactful elements of a page are. Giving users only a handful of seconds to digest an entire webpage forces them to capture only the most memorable snippets of information.
Why did we make Clue?
Clue is the baby brother to our awesome and full-featured app Verify. Verify is powerhouse app with 7 awesome tests that help people design for people by acting on data, not intuition.
We wanted to share the glory of Verify with everyone, that's why Clue is free, has no logins or account and is easy easy as the press of a button.
What's in it for us?
In a perfect world, we'd love every Clue user to see the light and become a Verify user — part of our motivation is to introduce people to the idea of quick, actionable results with Clue and eventually graduate them to the much more powerful Verify. In our quest for world domination, we're always looking to refine our design process and what better way to hone our process than to design a tool aimed at one of our core steps: design feedback. A design decision made without feedback can be a shot in the dark. Verify can help people make informed design decisions and Clue is especially great at helping us understand a user's first impression.
Why it's awesome.
Clue has a lot going for it, but three of the best things about Clue are that it's:
- Dead simple: Clue tests last 24 hours and are created at the click of a button. Getting critical feedback has never been so quick and easy.
- Honest: Giving users only 5½ seconds to digest a webpage only affords them time to absorb the most powerful parts of a page. Knowing what users remember is essential to making good design decisions
- Fun: We tried to make Clue a fun experience, both for test creators and test takers. Clue is meant to be enjoyable for anyone who wants to check it out.
How it works
Clue keeps it simple. You give Clue a webpage URL, it created a 24-hour memory test, you share the test wherever you like and Clue collects the results.
What does a Clue test tell you in the end? The results of a Clue test let you know what people remembered about your webpage through words and phrazes. We do our best to group words and phrases that are related (i.e. "huge navigation" and "really big navigation"). The top results should let you know what people's first impression is and what they will most likely remember about your webpage.
Keep It Simple: We make it dead easy to find the report of a Clue test - just add a "+" on the end of your test URL. Isn't that easy?
Do you need a Clue?
Do you have a site for you own small business? Maybe you're a baker, an artist or a budding freelancer. It really doesn't matter — if you have a site you need to get over to www.Clueapp.com and create a Clue memory test! The results will help you understand what first impressions your site is giving and how people are remembering you.
