Facebook changes the layout and adds and removes features all the time. Most users hate change. Just the other day I found myself trying to find where the "Find Friends" searchbox went. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? Believe it or not analytics plays a role in most decisions made at Facebook, but there's also wariness on their team about designing too much by the numbers.
This Friday December 3rd at noon Julie Zhuo the Design Manager at Facebook will get on her soapbox to share how her teams use quantitative data to inform their decisions. She'll touch on:
- How you know you're making the right decision
- Examples of failures/making wrong decisions
- Measure intangibles (i.e. brand perception)
- Getting your teams excited about data
- Seeking for people's motivations and intent in numbers
